Luke, you were telling me that you watched a couple of Louis Thruh's new documentaries.

For those who don't know, Louis Thruh is the stone-faced British documentary, not director, but host,

who specializes in salacious and extreme subject matter, which he goes in with plucky unflappability.

Brings his laconic earnestness to bear on many different subjects.

Has done dozens of documentaries on subjects ranging from white supremacy to the porn industry.

Yeah, so I've always found Louis Thruh documentaries, even the lesser ones, I just find them

quite entertaining, even if they're not covering a subject

that's particularly novel. But my girlfriend and I had kind of exhausted, you know, all the Louis

through documentaries, you know, kind of somewhere, some way into COVID in that period where we're all,

you know, during that stretch, we're all desperately reaching for like, what can we watch? What can we

watch? We're not allowed to go outside. There's one thing,

which I guess kind of is a lockdown era thing, at least indirectly, which is Louis sort of doing a

meta commentary on Tiger King, because for those who don't know, Louis Thru went and did a documentary

about Joe Exotic long before Tiger King, before anyone had heard of Joe Exotic, before he had this

kind of bizarre celebrity. And it's

actually pretty interesting because through sort of like, you know, when he did his

retrospective on what was at the time a pretty obsequious Louis meets Jimmy Seville thing.

I don't know if you saw that, but 10 years later, you know, after the Seville stuff had come out,

you know, Louis did a second documentary that was like about his first one. It's pretty interesting. So this is kind of like

that, but for Joe Exotic, it's also about the Tiger King phenomenon more generally. It sort of

gets into the free Joe Exotic movement. There's some fun details there. Like he meets these

lawyers who are defending Joe Exotic. exotic i mean just if there are people
