Yeah, this was a film that when you told me about it, I knew we had to do it because it just sounded perfect on paper.

And, I mean, am I happy we did it?

Yes, was I, you know, am I happy that I watched it?

Less so, certainly, but that's, you know, that's sort of the Michael and Us formula, isn't it?

The movie, I think, wisely downplays Jerry as a leading man.

We see him wandering around talking to his producer, doing demeaning publicity stunts, having a variety of interactions with his wretched fans and his even more wretched haters, generally an unhappy presence.

There's a funny scene where the producer is talking to. I'm not sure who it is. It's a reporter, it's a journalist. And she says to the producer,

you know, I really hate Jerry's show. I think it's terrible. I think it's exploitative. And the

producer says, well, you know, let's put it this way. You're a thoughtful woman. You care about

injustice. You don't like to see the woes of the world. And our show presents it to you. Right. So that's sort of coming to the only thing resembling a thesis statement that this film has,

which, you know, it's really not until, I don't know, about, what, 15 or 20 minutes before

the end, where Jerry gives his, you know, great dictator-style monologue about, you know,

about what the show is and why it matters. And basically, all the plots are coming together, you know, about what the show is and why it matters. And basically, all the plots are

coming together, you know, their people are fighting on stage. And then this guy gets up and he,

you know, from the audience and he's, you know, yelling at everybody. You're all a bunch of

degenerates or whatever. I like how he is meant to represent all of the haters of the show. So, you know, he is both the Christian right, the conservative right, but he's also...

He's the coastal elites who look down on the underclass as well.
