But what I do know is what I saw in this film CSNY Dejaveu, which is a 2008 documentary co-directed by

Neil Young himself, which chronicles their 2006 tour called The Freedom of Speech Tour.

And this is a documentary that you brought to the table. It is a fantastic suggestion.

How did you first hear about it?

Well, I am a devotee of Neil Young. I heard about it because I hear about everything Neil does. I would say there's

not a corner of his catalogue that is known to the public that I haven't to some extent explored.

So yeah, I watched this film quite a few years ago and, you know, I liked it at the time. I was like,

I'm against the war. I love Neil Young. Like, what's not to like? But, you know, I liked it at the time. I was like, I'm against the war. I love Neil Young.

Like, what's not to like? But, you know, subsequently, I've developed a more nuanced position

on this film. And whilst I still love Neil Young, a great deal, I didn't think it would be

interesting to bring one of, like like the good concert films of him.

That's just him playing great music to the table for Michael and Us or anything like that.

I've long thought that this film would be perfect for this show

because it's a particularly mid-2000s post-Michael Moore kind of movie.

Will, I'm interested in your perspective as someone

who hasn't religiously devoured everything Neil Young's ever done. Like, what were your thoughts

on the political songs that the band had in their arsenal? I mean, some of it's a little

didactic. Some of it's okay. I mean, you know, I think like what is the purpose of art?

I'm sympathetic in this movie that Neil Young believes he has a responsibility as an artist to use

his platform to communicate ideas and to raise consciousness, you know, deliver the medicine

with a spoonful of sugar. And I, I do respect that

in a way. I think art, though, is better at capturing the mood or helping us make sense of what's
