Tim Montgomery's here. Very good morning, Tim. We find ourselves in what can be described as rather volatile times, I think.

So soon into a new government, it's pretty unusual, isn't it?

It is. And it just seems to be, whether they're connected or not, is another matter, Mike.

But, you know, we've had the awful scenes in Manchester Airport.

We've had these issues on the streets of Southport.

You just told me about what happened in South End.

I wasn't aware of what's happening in South End.

Yeah, last night for no apparent reason.

And it sort of fits a wider picture.

You know, we've got to be careful about joining things together

that may not be connected.

But I think there is a sense in this country

that very deep-seated problems are being managed rather than confronted.

So, for example, in our prison system, we know there's a massive problem of drugs,

but the police, the prison service, don't want to confront the prison population for fear of riots on the state.

We have these regular demonstrations on London streets every week, almost, against, you know, the events in Palestine and Gaza.

The police seem to put a tolerance for some very provocative things that those

demonstrators say.

And then we have, you know, mass shopliftings, for example, in stores are cleared out.

General lawlessness, right?

There's a general lawlessness in a sense that there isn't the resource or the will, perhaps
