Where we left our press-to-play story, it was the summer of 1985.

Paul is on a break from recording an album that should have come out in the summer of

1985.

Instead, he's playing live aid and watching Northern songs disappear over the horizon

in a Michael Jackson

shaped buggy. The sessions resume in October. There's some business going on in October as well,

isn't there? There is indeed. We mentioned that there is a lot of litigation in the background,

so all of that is going on. Paul, his contract with Columbia, is up,

and in October he will re-sign with capital in the US. So he is reconnecting with the Beatles

original label in the US. The other interesting thing that happens in October, specifically on

October the 21st, is that

Carl Perkins invites some select friends to come and join him in a Carl Parkins special

filmed in Limehouse in London, and those guests include George Harrison, Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton,

and Paul McCartney is invited, but declines to attend on the basis that

too busy. Too busy. He's back doing sessions from October 1985 to try and get this album

finished. There's two big songs and a couple of other bits and pieces to be done.
