Hi everybody. Today. Bye, mommy. It's going to talk about James K. Polk. Thank you, Noah, for introducing James K. Polk, the 11th president of the United States. Before becoming president, Polk served as Speaker of the House and then Governor of Tennessee. Unlike the two

James K. Polk loved politics and was inspired by the seventh president of the United States

and fellow Tennessean Andrew Jackson.

The election of 1844 was extremely close with Polk defeating Whig nominee Henry Clay by just about 38,000 votes.

was able to attract some potential voters of Henry Clay, allowing Polk to rise to victory.
