Hi everybody! Today, my mom is going to talk about Calvin Coolidge.

Calvin Coolidge made a name for himself in the year 1919 when he was the governor of Massachusetts. That year, police officers in

Boston went on strike, and Coolidge was not pleased. He fired the striking police officers

and replaced them temporarily with the state militia. His opinion on the strike found its way into the newspapers when he was quoted as saying,

police strike was celebrated, and he instantly became a force within the Republican Party.

Just a year later, he would become vice president.
