R ruling presidents have broad immunity from criminal prosecution for

official acts even after leaving the office.

In a six to three ideological line ruling,

the majority created a framework for prosecuting presidents

by dividing presidential actions into three buckets.

One, core constitutional acts, complete immunity,

two, official acts, presumptive immunity,

and three, unofficial private acts, no immunity.
