Today, in honor of President's Day,

the story of a president who was impeached during a time of great division.

You might be familiar with President Abraham Lincoln's second inaugural address.

You know the one. It was 1865, the end of the Civil War,

and Lincoln was hoping to heal this bitterly divided nation,

quote, with malice toward none, with charity for all.

This speech is engraved on one of the walls inside the Lincoln Memorial.

But what a lot of people don't know is that the speech right before his,

from his new Vice President Andrew Johnson, was actually pretty awkward,

because Johnson was super drunk when he gave it.

I know all of this because my colleague Lilline Cunningham shared it on her podcast presidential.

It's a historical journey through the personality and legacy of each of the American presidents.

And today, for the President's Day holiday,

we thought that it might be interesting to remember this other president who was impeached.
