Welcome back everyone to the Epic Gardening podcast. I hope you're having an awesome day.

We are talking today with Amy Bauer of Frontyard Veggies. We've been talking about her transition

0:23.0

from a Southern California climate to a Massachusetts climate zone 6a. And Amy, you mentioned

0:29.8

you've got this in ground 13 by 40 foot area that was cultivated by the previous owners,

0:35.5

but I would imagine probably maybe in the state of disrepair when you moved in.

0:38.9

Exactly. It wasn't a complete state of disrepair because the previous owners knew that they,

0:44.4

I think they listed the house in May or June of last year. Because they knew they were

0:49.3

in a cell, I think they didn't really want to worry about planting their vegetable garden.

0:53.8

And then having to leave it to people who may or may not garden. It was completely overrun

1:14.2

And I think it was, I don't know, maybe October we moved in. So shortly thereafter,

1:22.0

we have a ride on lawnmower. So I just had my husband mow all the weeds down. I'm not getting in

1:27.6

there and weeding anything. They're all just going to get mulled down. If you mow it, we have a

1:33.0

track back on the back of it, suck it up and mulchers everything. And then we luckily for moving

1:41.1

had tons and tons and tons of cardboard boxes that instead of sending to a recycling center are

1:47.6

now decomposing nicely in our garden. So what I did was we had the the garden space all mowed down

1:56.9

and then I had two friends, Jess again from asking food for us and Ariana from the Birch Arbor

2:02.6

Garden were so so sweet and right after we moved, they came over one Saturday and helped me,

2:10.7

you know, visualize the bed and get everything prepped and laid the cardboard down and helped

2:15.7

water the cardboard and just helped me make a plan for it. There are a big reason why the garden

2:21.0

even happened this year because I was, again, a four-month-old baby, new house pandemic. Like I was,
