minds aligned with the Jew the God and I wonder if you would be willing to do something

that could dramatically impact the future of someone else's life. Stop for a moment

their lives. Today in our Advent celebration, we're in day number 23 and we're talking about preparing

the way for the Lord. We're going to read a passage from the Gospel of Luke chapter 3 verses 1 through

6 and this passage is telling the story of John the Baptist who is one who God sent beforehand

to prepare the way for Jesus in his initial coming to the earth. Let's read it. It says in the

15th year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, Pontius Pilate was Governor Judea and Herod was

Tetrarch of Galilee and his brother Philip was Tetrarch of the region of Iteria and Triconitis

and Licinius was the Tetrarch of Abelene. This was during the high priesthood of Anus and Caiaphas

and the word of God came to John the son of Zechariah in the wilderness and he went into all the

region around the Jordan proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. As it is

written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, the voice of one crying in the wilderness

prepare the way of the Lord, make His paths straight, every valley shall be filled and every mountain

and hill shall be made low and the crooked shall become straight and the rough places shall become

levelways and all flesh shall see the salvation of God. Now this section in describing John's ministry

of preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins is also drawing on the words

of the prophet Isaiah which we've already looked at in our Advent celebration. John was the one
