The following is a crime story being narrated by me from the perspective of the first person.

These events are not my personal experiences and it is not something that I perpetrated.

There are very few things in life that I ever came to regret.

I never thought a time would come when I'd regret the day that he walked into my life.

By 1991, I was already divorced with a young son, but I was making a go of it.

I had a good job, a really good job with the company that I was with.

As a matter of fact, I would eventually shatter that glass ceiling,

rising to the executive level in an industry that was and still is very much male-dominated.

I was minding my own business when he came through the door.

Mike. His name was Mike.

I greeted him as I do with everyone who comes in, but I remembered him from a time before,

quite some time ago.

We'd actually worked together, same company, but this time either it was the timing,

things were just right.

The stars aligned as they say, and on this particular day, they did.
