Sarah and Jane loved being outside in the fresh air, so when their parents suggested

a trip up into the mountains, they were all for it.

This is how they found themselves hiking along a trail, overlooking tree-covered valleys

and surrounded by the sounds of nature.

Look, Jane! Butterflies!

cried Sarah with delight, pointing to where some low, flowering shrubs grew in a gap amongst

the trees. The butterflies were soaking up the sun's rays, or fluttering from bloom to bloom,

inspiring dances.

Oh, they're so pretty, said Jane. Do you think we'll see any other creatures on the trail?

What? Like mountain lions or bears? T's Sarah. Oh, I hope not.

Fired back, Jane quickly. Up ahead was a rocky outcrop with a spectacular view of the surrounding

mountains and the deep valleys in between. It was here that the family decided to stop for lunch.

Mom, can we go and explore?

Ask Sarah, as she held her half-eaten sandwich.

Okay, she replied, but you keep well away from the edge and stay where you can see us.

Thanks, Mom! Yell, Jane, and they both raced off towards the nearby trees,

sandwiches still in their hands.

I'm going to find some more butterflies, announced Sarah.

Me too, Giggle, Jane, as they rounded the thick trunk of a pine tree, but it wasn't a butterfly

that they found. Their lying on the dusty ground was a fairy. Both girls gasped, coming to a complete

stop. Was it real? Could it just be a toy that some child had dropped?

Sarah, do you think it's okay? Ask, Jane.
