Kennedy had woken up in the night thinking, thinking about stars to be exact. Her mom had told her that each star in the sky was a distant sun and

that there were billions of such stars in our galaxy and billions of galaxies

across the universe.

Altogether, that made for an awful lot of stars.

Kennedy was struggling to imagine it all.

So unable to sleep, she hopped out of bed and crossed the window

to see some stars for herself. If she was lucky, the clouds would be few and

she'd be able to spy some twinkling up there in the

North Vancouver sky.

Oh, I can see them, she said softly, but as she gazed starwoods she saw another light but this one was moving and getting closer

Kennedy watched as the light became a shape, which became a spaceship hovering in the air right outside

her room.

There was a rectangular window at its front where two faces looked at her looking at them.

Now, if Kennedy was expecting green slimy aliens,

then she was going to be disappointed,

because these were very different.

Familiar even, because Kennedy found herself staring at two

unicorns and they were waving at her.

Kennedy waved back.

The two unicorns gently settled the spaceship on the ground

while Kennedy slipped on some shoes and rushed outside.

A door had opened in the spaceship's side
