I'd like to welcome everybody to today's presentation on pregnancy and infant loss, risk factors and treatment issues.

This is actually pregnancy and infant loss awareness month.

So, you know, now you know where the inspiration for this presentation came from.

Over the next hour, we're going to identify risk and protective factors for

prematurely, miscarriage, and stillbirth, as well as sudden infant death syndrome, and

explore treatment issues for the family.

Miscarriages occur before 20 weeks. The prevalence of miscarriages is 10 to 25% of

pregnancies or more. That's only the pregnancies that we know about. Obviously, there's a lot of people

who may get pregnant and not realize they're pregnant and the pregnancy terminates before they even

realize it. So just of the pregnancies we know, up to one fourth of them end in miscarriage.

It's really important to know when we're working with clients who have experienced a miscarriage

so we can help destigmatize, help normalize what's going on.
