It's another Mark It Down Monday. And listen, as you're listening to this podcast right now, we are inside the Woody, unless you're listening at like 5.30 in the morning, then we're sleeping. I'm just going to be honest with you. But if you're listening to this as part of your lunch break or something like that, we're talking with Ryan Day, getting an update after Ohio State's first scrimmage of the fall. I wonder if we're going to start hearing some of those magic words. I don't think he's going to name the starting quarterback today, but I wonder if we start hearing language that suggests that we're closer than objects in the mirror are closer than they may appear when we're talking about the quarterback competition, depending on how Ryan Day talks about it today. But that's not what we're going to be marking down today.

Though, I mean, one of us might name a quarterback and one of the things we're marking down today. But we're not marking down all Americans. And that's first team all Americans. That's Buckeye Grove. In order to get a tree in there, you have to make a first team all American team. And it used to be one of the five major All-American teams.

I think they've expanded that.

But for the sake of this conversation, we're going to leave it at just the five

major all-American teams. A bit of history before we get into some things here, because we did

get 27 different people between the offense and defense who got at least one vote to make an

All-American team, plus a specialist got a vote to make an All-American team.

In 2019, Ohio State had four All-Americans, Wyatt Davis and J.K. Dobbins on offense,

Chase Young and Jeff Okuda on defense in 2020.

Wyatt Davis on offense and Sean Wade on defense. Sean Wade was the last

defensive player to be an All-American until this past season. In 2021, Chris Olbe, Garrett Wilson,

Aaron Munford, and Nicholas Petit Frere all made at least one major All-American team. In 2022,

Marvin Harrison Jr. and Parrish Johnson never made, excuse me, were the only ones who made an all-American team. And then in 2023, Marvin Harrison Jr. was the low and All-American for Ohio State. And then last season,

McLaughlin on offense as the Remington Award winner. And then Caleb Downs on defense, both made first team All-American. In fact, I think both of them were unanimous, All-American choices, if I have that right, Stefan.
