Summary
On any given day there’s a million things we could potentially tell our kids to do or not do. Some of those things are routine like do your best work or don’t touch your brother. But then there’s the things that one day come spilling out of your mouth that nobody ever warned you about. Like “you have to wear underwear to ride your bike.”
True story, sadly. 😂
Today we’re reading Psalm 37 and a few of King David’s “dos” and “don’ts” for biblical living. There’s great application as we pray for our kids to do the things that point them to Jesus and let go of the things that don’t.
If you’re looking for biblical life hacks, this week’s prayer time is just what you need!
P.S. We would be so grateful if you’d consider sharing Pardon the Mess with a friend. Encourage those you know and love to join us in praying each week by forwarding this email or sending a link to the show. Thank you!

| 0:20.7 | It's Psalm 37 that we are |
| 0:23.0 | focused on. And it's the do's and don'ts that we get from David in the Psalm that we're |
| 0:28.3 | going to talk about. The key verses are Psalm 37 3 through 4, trust in the Lord and do good, dwell in |
| 0:34.2 | the land and enjoy safe pasture. Take delight in the Lord and he will give you the desires |
| 0:39.3 | of your heart. And so what I love about David, I know what we all love about David and especially |
| 0:45.5 | just the Psalms in general is they call it what it is. The things you're thinking, the things you |
| 0:49.5 | probably are like, am I allowed to say this as biblical, as this godly? David just calls it out. |
| 0:54.7 | And so there's a whole lot in the Psalm, but what I'm focused on is the beginning, where |
| 0:58.2 | David basically talks about being envious of those around us that seem to prosper, but they're |
| 1:04.1 | not godly. They're not doing God honoring things, but they seem to have it all going for them. |
| 1:08.6 | And I know in my own life, I could think of examples that even |
| 1:11.1 | the last week where I've looked at influencers or authors or even other podcasters or different |
| 1:17.4 | places where I see things. I'm like, wow, I don't know in any respect how you're following the |
| 1:23.5 | Lord, but boy, it sure does look nice, how prosperous you are. It's all going well. It looks shiny |
| 1:28.6 | over there. I wish that I had a little bit more of that. I think that's natural for us, even as adults. |
| 1:33.8 | And I know it's natural for our kids, too, to look around and see what the world has. It's |
| 1:38.0 | tempting to want to have that. And so David's calling it out, and he's saying, verse one, do not fret because of those who are evil or be envious of those who do wrong. |
