Summary

Today we’re talking about time-management on Pardon the Mess, and my husband Mike is making a cameo as we pray over our children.

As a young mom I so often remember being told to treasure each moment because “the days are long but the years are short.” Now as a mom who just celebrated a fairly large milestone birthday, I realize the absolute truth of those words both in raising kids and just in life generally.

Because it’s so hard to truly appreciate how precious each day is when you’re young, we’re focusing our prayer time this week on praying time management for our kids. Their days, like ours, are filled with so many demands as they balance school, activities, family, and time with the Lord. Let’s pray as they do this each day they learn to make wise decisions with their time and use it in ways that best honor God’s purposes in their lives.

I love the wisdom of  Psalm 90:12 as it relates to time management: “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” The Lord is our sole source of all wisdom—so let’s ask him to guide our kids this week.

I'm great. How are you? Good. Thanks for doing this. It's not your favorite thing in the world to be on

the podcast with me, I might add. I don't know if that's not my favorite thing in the world, but I'm not sure why you ask a procrastinator to talk about time management.

So I can't imagine how many people you had to go through before you got to me, but here we are.

That's not true. It's not true. You're the first one I asked on this. But I only say that it's not your favorite because you've been on the podcast once with me, but whenever there's someone that like a professional athlete or someone that's going to be on, you're like, I'll just do it by

myself. So I always laugh. You just take it and take it and run. For sure. So as we're praying time management

over our kids, I'm looking through all these different like attributes, the things we're praying

over our kids all year. And time management seems like, if I'm honest, like a little bit lame, like if you look at the things we're praying, we're praying gratefulness and generosity and purpose and excellence. And then I'm

like, time management, what, but really it's so important. I think time management is for our kids

because they have so many demands on them. And if they don't manage their time well, one, I don't

think they even get a grasp, which none of us get a grass,

but this whole concept that, you know, like our days are numbered. And so using them well. But then I think

the other thing that comes with that is a lack of time management, then you start focusing on things
