Summary

At the risk of saying this ad nauseum, may I once again mention how desperately I want our kids to truly know God and not just know about God? Maybe it’s because I grew up in an amazing Christian home and went to church every time the doors were opened but didn’t really know God personally for many years that leads me to drive home this point so often.

But at the end of the day our kids need more than just head knowledge about Jesus—they need daily connection. That connection is exactly what we’re praying for this week, and I came up with a somewhat lame acronym to guide us as we pray (it’s better explained on the podcast):

S - Salvation by accepting Jesus as their Lord and Savior
T - Talking to God and establishing a prayer life with significance
A - Acknowledging God’s work in their lives
T - Thirsting for God’s word and his plans for their lives

Even as there’s so much that feels STAT, or high priority these days, let’s flip the narrative and pray with urgency that our kids have a connection with the Lord that changes their lives.

0:22.1	And you probably have prayed connection for your kids. And you've prayed it in the form of
0:26.2	praying they're connected with their school or with their friends or the sports team or maybe
0:30.6	in your own house. I know those are the types of connection. I pray over my children. But this week
0:35.6	we're really going to focus on praying that they have
0:37.6	connection with the Lord. And so our verse is John 15.5, I am the vine. You are the branches. If you remain
0:43.9	in me and I and you, you will bear much fruit. Apart from me, you can do nothing. And that last part,
0:49.9	that's the key right there. Apart from me, you can do nothing. And so with that in mind,
0:56.4	that's why we pray connection for them, that they are with the Lord, they can bear fruit,
0:59.8	they can live the bigger purposes because they are connected to him. And I sometimes think about
1:05.7	with my kids what I would like it to all look like at the end of the parenting journey.
1:10.1	When they're grown up,
1:11.1	living their own lives, raising their own kids. And I am just, I've always been convicted and
1:14.8	prayed that they won't just know about God, but that they will know God personally.
1:20.3	Now, admittedly, that is not within my control or any of our control. And that's why we continue
1:25.0	just praying for our kids. And so I came up with a little
