When we pray, we demonstrate our trust and reliance on God. Praying with the right motives does not involve loud wailing and constant repetition to impress others; it is our way of having a private conversation with Him. Prayer reminds us to always acknowledge God’s involvement in everything concerning our lives, and that we cannot live apart from Him. It requires our acknowledgement that we are helpless without God, but confident in His ability and willingness to supply our needs. Prayer reflects an attitude of putting Him first, above anything else. This is a significant departure from the religious attitude that emphasizes self-effort. The prayer that reflects our faith in God to take care of us in good times as well as bad helps us maintain the proper mindset.
