Summary

"In today's Conversations for the Journey, host and Care Director Wes Butler leads us in praying through Acts 9:32-43. This week, Wes leads us in prayer for three things: for those battling chronic illness, for those who are dead in their sin to be raised to life in Christ, and for courage to speak the Gospel into dark places. This is the Join the Journey weekly prayer podcast.

0:13.1

Unlike our new Tuesday teaching episodes, this time is set apart for guided prayer as we abide in Jesus together.

0:20.6

Here's your host, Wes Butler. Well,

0:24.1

welcome back, friends, to another week of conversations for the journey. I'm so glad that you are

0:29.7

joining us again this week. For those of you who are tuning in each and every week, I do pray and

0:34.5

hope that your prayer life has changed this year as we've just spent time looking at

0:39.4

God's word, seeing how we can respond to it prayerfully, how we can allow it to inform our prayers.

0:45.4

And so that's what we want to continue to do with this podcast.

0:48.6

And so I hope that you are helped and encouraged.

0:51.5

And so thank you again for being with us.

0:54.1

Today we are going to be praying

0:55.8

through this great passage from the end of Acts chapter 9 as we see two miraculous moments in the

1:04.2

life of the early church that the apostle Peter oversaw, one, a healing of Veneas, and then the other, the resurrection of a dead person,

1:12.9

which is truly just astounding when we just take a moment and think about what that must have

1:17.9

been like for the early church. And so there's so much that we could inform our prayer lives

1:23.1

with and be directed to. And so just a few things here that I was stirred to think about and to be

1:29.9

prayerful for. First, as we read that story of Aeneas, we see that this was not just an acute

1:36.4

moment in his life. This was an eight-year battle with a disease that had paralyzed him. And so it said

1:43.2

that he was bedridden for eight years.

1:45.8

And it just reminds me of the fact that there are many in our church family here at Watermark

1:50.9

who are battling a chronic illness.

1:53.6

This is not just something that came on them suddenly and they were sick for a few days and then
