Welcome to Conversations for the Journey, a weekly podcast to help us commune with our God through prayer in response to what he has spoken to us through his word.

We believe that all prayer is not first us speaking to God, but is always us responding to the

God who has first spoken to us. I'm your host, Wes Butler, Director of Care Ministries here at Watermark

Community Church in Dallas, Texas. Each week, our hope is to give you the listener a few things

to pray throughout the week, as well as to invite you to continue to ask the Spirit to reveal

additional things to you

that he wants to talk with you about. Each week will be taking a passage from the Book of Acts

and just really kind of ringing it out for all that it's worth in hopes that the Lord will

speak to our hearts and then give us an opportunity to respond to him. And so this week,

we're considering what God has to say to us in respond to him. And so this week, we're considering what

God has to say to us in Acts chapter one and what this passage invites us to pray to God in

response to him. So let me quickly just highlight three things from this passage that I believe

the Lord is inviting us to talk with him about. And then let's just pray together. So in Acts 1-8,

Luke is giving his account of the great commission of jesus and the overview of both the book of acts and the ongoing mission of

god's church today to carry the gospel from our doorstep to the ends of the earth and so we see

this invitation to wait for the holy spirit to come upon us so that we can be faithful

witnesses in Judea, Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the world. And so today we'll pray

for conviction, courage, and faithfulness for us, and for all those who call ourselves Christians
