0:18.8	spiritual task that you just have to get done each day? I think many Christians, many of us Catholics
0:24.4	can fall into this trap of viewing our prayer life is primarily about what we do,
0:30.2	about our performance in prayer?
0:33.6	Did we get it in?
0:34.8	Did we concentrate enough?
0:36.1	Did we focus enough?
0:37.0	Did we use the right method?
0:38.3	Did we use the right technique?
0:40.0	Did I give this time to God in prayer?
0:43.6	And we can view it as almost like a spiritual checklist.
0:46.6	You know, I got my time in the Bible, I got my time at the chapel,
0:49.9	or I got my rosary in, and I just check off the boxes in order to show that I'm a good Christian.
0:56.0	I completed the spiritual task.
0:58.0	Now don't get me wrong, it's really good to have the habit of prayer at St Thomas Aquinas.
1:02.0	In fact, it tells us that prayer is something
1:04.4	we owe God out of justice as part of the virtue of justice. We owe God our entire lives,
1:09.2	we owe Him our worship, our devotion, and the habit of daily prayer so it's really important to cultivate
1:15.4	that daily habit. Nevertheless there's something so much more going on in
1:20.3	prayer than just what we do on our end.
