Hello my friends and welcome to this Pray Together episode. This is an opportunity you and I have to pray to the God of the universe.

And if you stop and think about the power of that and the significance of that.

We're able to speak to our Creator and to request things of Him and he listens and answers

because of what His son Jesus Christ has done to open the way

for us to do that. I want to read a passage to you from the book of James chapter

five beginning in verse 16, that expresses to us the power that prayer can be for us.

It says, therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another.

That you may be healed.

Now friends, we're going to have some prayer requests today about healing.

So let's keep that in mind as we pray. But it goes on and it says. prayer So God has granted us the ability to have power in prayer through our righteous lives.

And you may think, well that disqualifies me because I'm not righteous. No, but friends we are righteous in Christ. Our faith in Christ

imputes to us his righteousness and so we are able to pray in faith, in confidence.

And then the writer, James, gives us this example

to think about when we consider prayer.

He says, Elijah, was an Old Testament prophet, was a man with a nature just like ours.

And he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth.

Then he prayed again and heaven gave rain and the earth bore its fruit.

And why does he tell us about Elijah?

Because he's trying to help us understand.

Elijah wasn't some special guy,

with some special anointing, some special power from God.

He was a man just like ours and he prayed fervently in faith,
