richly bless you as you seek to serve him. It will not come as news to most of us that our culture is thoroughly confused about what prayer is and what prayer is not.

Indeed, we have become an anti-prayer culture and society.

In its December 3rd, 2015 issue, the New York Daily News mocked

some of the presidential candidates for sending messages to the family of the victims of

Islamic terrorism and telling them that they're praying for them. They mocked that by the headlines saying, God isn't fixing this.

During that same period in December 2015, some of the Air Force football team was caught,

praying before the game. And for that, it is being investigated if they've broken

the law, dubbed their prayer activities. But we don't have to go outside of the church to realize

this spirit of indifference toward prayer and what prayer is all about. We see how many

Christians have lost their appetite for prayer. We see how prayer is used as need basis.

How prayer is some sort of a magic words that you use in order for the genie

to appear.

And when a genie appears, you ask what you want from the genie, and the genie would say,

your wish is my command.

That's how confused people have become about prayer in our culture and even within the churches.

And I was thinking about this and how people really pray only if they want something from God,

and then they literally ignore him for the rest of their life as if God can be marked like that.

And I thought of a little country boy who was asked by the pastor.
