My name is Nick Pollock. Today is March 27th, and yes, we are going to talk about baseball. Cade Ciavelli went on opening day for the Nationals. 3.2 innings, 200 runs 3. It's three walks and 5 strikeouts. How should we feel about Kate Covelli moving forward? I am not the biggest fan

0:22.4

just because he throws a really good curveball and five strikeouts. How should we feel about Kay Kavali moving forward?

0:26.7

I am not the biggest fan just because he throws a really good curveball and has velocity that I call empty velocity.

0:28.0

That means that it's velocity that does not have the best movement, does not have the

0:32.6

underlying aspects of a good fastball to get whiffs a ton.

0:36.0

And you saw that yesterday, just six whiffs on 75 pitches overall. That's the M.O. with Cave Givaldi. He doesn't have much else

0:43.6

else in that arsenal. To really support this is not the best team around him. I will say

0:50.5

Kevoli did command his four-seamer and sinker a little bit better than I have seen in the past. Hopefully that does stick, but I kind of imagine the four seamer will not be very good. Also, he should have a lot of home run, I believe it was Ian Hap or might have been a different pitcher. But the wind was really pushing in from left field yesterday. And I do think that that is part of the reason wasn't as so as bad as it could have been for Cade Covelli. I would not go with that. And by the way, I'm going to be highlighting the guys to go for today, tomorrow, on your waiver wires. And also which ones of these guys you should actually be picking up? Kate Covelli is not one of them. I'm not going to go through all of the aces. I do want to mention Jose Soriano getting 19 whiffs on 91 pitches, a 37% CSW against the asteris.

1:32.3

I was not in on this. I see Jose Soriano as someone who's going to be a massive whip liability for your leagues.

1:39.2

And six innings, zero runs, two, it's four walks. Seven Ks is incredible.

1:44.1

The reason, and something that I regret that I didn't catch myself. Zero runs to its four walks. Seven Ks is incredible.

1:50.1

The reason, and something that I regret that I didn't catch myself, was that this is a right-handed heavy lineup, and Soriano is much better against righties than he has lefties.

1:54.6

Why is that?

1:55.4

Because he has a sinker that throws really hard and generates a lot of ground balls, and he has

1:59.6

this elite cut, a curveball that

2:02.1

in the past has had a high CSW.

2:04.3

This was actually only 46% strike rate, but he earned a ton of whiffs on them.

2:08.8

8 over 26 and it came in at 8687.

2:11.7

Oh, isn't that a slider?
