And today we're going to talk about the San Francisco Giants. It is January. Nope. February 5th.

Oh my gosh. Is it really February already? I have so much I have to do. Okay. This is why you're getting all these plus pitch podcasts so quickly right now. I did the Reds last night, and now you've got the Giants, and we got to start with Logan

Webb.

Is he safe?

Is he reliable?

He was safe last year, but it was a 123 whip.

Well, he was someone who kind of changed what he did.

His change up used to be the thing, and while it still was very present, it got hit a lot

harder this past year. We're talking about a 46%

ICR after a 31% before. That's 15 points increase for Logan Webb. The other way would have

been 16%. So what's going on here? What happened is guys were jumping on the change-up earlier in counts, and they were getting

this ball and play more often.

I don't actually think that Webb had a worse change-up.

I think he understood that he was figured out a bit more.

So what happened is that he reduced his change-up usage, increased his sinkers, increased

his sweepers, which are really the same pitch as the slider

before.

And Logan Webb has been tinkering with sliders over the past couple years.

And he had a slider, then he moved it into the sweeper that had two extra inches of horizontal

break and one extra inch of drop at like the same velocity.

I think it's just a different grip, honestly.
