Valentin of the poster children. I'm Jim DeWergottis, and I'm Greg Cutt. We'll dig into Rose's

new memoir Play Like A Man, but first some new music from Iris Dement and Screaming Females.

Then is working on a world, the title track from the new Iris Dement album. Iris Dement,

you know she might as well be the face of Americana music in America. She's been making records

for 30 years. Born in Arkansas, the last of 14 kids, Jim. Late Bloomer didn't put out her first

album until she was 32 in 1992, and what an album that was, Infamous Angel, was very well received.

She was signed to Warner Brothers, big label, putting out this, you know, country singer,

by the guy who signed Joni Mitchell and James Taylor among other people. So they figured,

they thought, you know, we have a hugely distinctive voice. Throwback to the Carter family early

gospel music, musically she didn't fit in in any category at that time. There was a mix of country,

folk, gospel, pop, bluegrass, sort of a tweener, you know. Where does she fit? Amy Lou Harris,

Roseanne Cash, Lucinda Williams, Sean Colvin. There were a bunch of women artists in that,

in that era who were making similar kinds of music. Iris was a little bit younger than them,

but at the same time 32 years old and had this experience in her voice that was undeniable.

Takes her time making albums, six albums between 1992 and 2015. Working on a world is her

seventh album and first in eight years. Let's hear what Iris has got in store for us. Here's the
