I love Pete.

I love everything he did for the Mets.

I wanted the Mets to resign him.

He plays every single day.

He's a prolific power hitter.

He is a clutch player.

I believe he is great.

Not only for this franchise, for the fans, everything that he did to embrace the Mets culture, but also inside the clubhouse.

I wish it worked out.

It did not.

Now, as far as David Stearns, everybody says that he's an idiot and he's cheap.

I disagree.

I think he's ruthless.

I don't think he gives a damn about anybody's sentimentality. He doesn't care about our heartstrings. He wants to build a winner. So anybody out there right now that's feeling this way about Edwin Diaz, and they're feeling this way about Pete Alonzo, what I would ask you is this. If you are a general manager, if you are an owner of a team and this team collapsed in 2021 and they collapsed in 2025, would you not
