And today we are going to hear Portia's story. It is a few different subjects that we haven't touched upon

in a big way before. And one of them is the subject of being a lost child. And a lost child

is a child that attempts to stay out of the dysfunctional picture of a family as much as possible

by staying quiet.

They learn how to be on their own and they fend for themselves as much as possible.

And they are kids that have their needs not being met and this child will withdraw.

They'll feel alone and they will yearn for love, approval, and attention. And specifically when it

comes to a lost child and a narcissistic parent, the lost child doesn't seem to matter to the

narcissistic abuser and the child avoids conflict by just keeping this low profile.

And the narcissistic abuser doesn't really perceive the lost child as a threat or a, quote, unquote, good source of supply.
