0:10.2	you gave us a personal update from your life. And at the very end of that update, it was
0:14.5	like a little footnote that you added at the end. You briefly mentioned that you were
0:17.8	about to head off for a two month writing leave to write a whole book about 2nd Timothy
0:22.6	4.8 on the 2nd coming of Jesus Christ. Now it was back in APJ 1641 that you told us about
0:29.4	that. And in God's kindness, the book you alluded to there got written, edited and published,
0:34.4	and is now out under the title, come Lord Jesus, meditations on the 2nd coming of Christ.
0:41.0	I'm holding the book in my hand right now, and we are going to look at the book over the next
0:46.0	week or so on the podcast and four episodes of questions that I have for you. First off, in this
0:52.5	new book, what becomes pretty obvious to any reader is that you don't spend too much time
0:58.1	dwelling on wrong views of the in times. Your goal really was to clarify what actually happens
1:04.1	when Christ returns and to to celebrate it and to encourage us to love his appearing. That's
1:09.4	the main theme of the book to love his appearing. But I wonder if you'd be willing to take 10 minutes or
1:15.0	so on this episode and sketch out for us some of the misconceptions, the blunders and the urban legends
1:20.2	about the 2nd coming that you hope your book will help people to avoid in the future.
1:26.5	In general, I do think it's right to do most good for the church, that we do most good for the church
1:35.8	with regard to the 2nd coming when we don't focus on distortions and misconceptions,
1:43.1	but rather on the truth and the beauty of what it really is in the Bible.
1:51.0	And yet it's right now and then to make our people understand there are misconceptions,
2:01.2	there are errors. And frankly, I'm really happy that my book is viewed as being mainly proactive and
2:09.2	positive rather than critical. But of course, even that positive view can be overstated.
