Summary

In this episode of We Need To Talk, viral pop star Caity Baser shares the unfiltered story behind her rise - from being booed off stage to performing in front of thousands, from childhood trauma to finding her voice through music. Caity opens up about growing up on a council estate in Southampton to a £50 bet that changed her life. For the first time, she speaks publicly about being assaulted at the age of 8 - how it shaped her confidence, her sense of safety, and how it impacted her relationships. She also shares a later experience of assault by someone she thought she could trust, and how it took years to fully understand what had happened. Now, through music, community, and the safety of real love, Caity is finding new ways to speak out - not just for herself, but for anyone still learning how to process what they’ve been through. Caity shares: ◽️ Why she blocked her mum - and doesn’t regret it ◽️ The story behind her most personal song, Weight Of You ◽️ How she fell in love on a music video set ◽️ Her journey with ADHD ◽️ The meaning behind the songs on her new EP  Caity Baser, We Need To Talk. This episode includes discussions of sexual assault and child sexual assault. I want to go to like a big city. I want to want to be a star and nobody really got it posted the video where I was singing and it was like blowing up I had a lot of nose open mic nights where people booed me so I was like no way is anyone going to turn up and see me on stage then I start hearing k-e k-k-e-k-e so for me when I went out on stage and there was all those people there, I was like, literally two of these.
