Now we have Emerald Fennell's major studio version of Weathering Heights,

which honors the late 18th century setting of the Yorkshire Moors from Emily Bronte's novel,

but introduces

anachronistic music cues in florid sexuality in a bid to attract a contemporary mainstream audience.

At the remote Moorland farmhouse of the title, Kathy Earnshaw, played as a child by Charlotte

Mellington, and as an adult by Margot Robbie, lives with her vice-addicted father, played by Martin Cloons, and her servant, Nellie, played as an adult by Margot Robbie, lives with her vice-addicted father, played by Martin Clunes,

and her servant Nellie, played as an adult by Hong Chow. When her father adopts a like-aged

wild child to live with them, Kathy names him Heathcliff. It is thrilled to have a companion,
