Okay, quick COVID update here. California has surpassed New York with the most coronavirus cases in the United States.

And has set a new record of 12,807 cases in one day with a positivity rate at 7% and trending higher.

The hospitalizations are increasing as well and 60% of the cases are aged 18 to 45 in Los Angeles County, 57% of the cases are under 41 years old.

Republican governor Mike DeWine of Ohio has issued a statewide mask order that will take effect Thursday evening saying, quote, it is essential that we wear masks statewide in Ohio to contain the spread of the virus.

Well, thanks, governor DeWine. Senate Republicans and White House officials are discussing proposing a short term extension of enhanced unemployment benefits beyond their expiration date at the end of this month.

And that's an indication that the party is still divided over a broader relief package. It was not clear on Wednesday how long the extension Republicans are weighing with last or whether it could gain broad enough support in the party to materialize.
