The Kale Gorbachev, one of the most consequential world leaders of the 20th century,

has died at 91, this according to Russian state media.

Gorbachev was the last leader of the Soviet Union and he ushered in a new openness

from the communist empire that led to the end of the Cold War.

There was no love lost between many Russians and Gorbachev.
