Hey everybody welcome back to cold case murder mysteries. I'm your host Ryan Kraus dragging you down into the darkness of the true crime

underworld once again as we examine one of the more gruesome yet fascinating

cases in recent memory, one chalk full of dysfunctional family drama, and a cold-hearted maniacal sociopath

wielding a fireman's axe. But at the core of the matter is the revelation that we're

ultimately going to learn just as much about the human brain

from analyzing the actions of the victims as we are from scrutinizing the

sociopath who attacked them. More specifically we're going to take a look at how evolution has designed you as a train intended to remain on its tracks.

Because what we have here is a classic case of the killer and his victims going off the rails in terms of brain

function and the response from evolution is nothing less than mind-blowing. For

our purposes we'll call it reactionary evolution. Basically, when you go off the rails due to

damage your mental illness, evolution throws your ass out of the driver's seat in

your brain and puts your existence in autopilot to expedite the process, which is either your survival or destruction,

depending upon whether you're the assailant or the victim in the matter.

So we're going to watch that scenario play out where evolution throws both parties in this matter into autopilot,

one for the purposes of survival, the other to be destroyed,

and what we end up with is an astounding notion. It has a sense of

humor. The universe has the same dark sense of humor you and I experience.

It too lives and dies and is reborn again in so many ways. It moves and creates and feels and expresses in much the same way we do.

And if this is so, at the core of this energy there has to be a heart, something

that drives its will to go on. Because as beautiful as the universe is, and as much light as it creates in the form of fireworks in the Cosmos, it's nothing more than we are, light running from darkness.
