Welcome back to our special taxes and tariffs. I want to go to Tim Barton from the wonderful wall

builders organization wallbuilders.com. Tim is the president. Tim, great to talk to you, man. Well, thanks for having me on. Good to be with you. I'm grateful for you. There's no one better to talk to to get reconnected with our founding generation and our founder grandfathers. So we kicked off reconnecting with these founders on the Boston Tea Party. And it's one of these moments in history that has lasted in our national consciousness, but I want to bring it back up up to the front again.

What is it about the Boston Tea Party that you think has made it last for so long and what would you like us to reconnect with it?

Well, there's so many great details from that.

I think there's even misrepresentation sometimes in the modern telling of the story.

You know, the fact that

this wasn't the kind of protest that we've seen in cities over the last several years, where it's

incredibly destructive and they're breaking and destroying things. The fact that they literally

brought new locks to replace the locks or they broke when they're opening up these crates

and dumping out the tea, that they're cleaning off the decks when they broke when they're opening up these crates and dumping out the tea,

that they're cleaning off the decks when they leave. It was something they were sending a more

pointed message to the king of, we're not going to let your tyranny reign over us when you're

imposing your beliefs and we have no saying what happens. And it doesn't even matter how much the

tax was, which is super interesting where we are now, right? That there's these crazy taxes being put on us. It feels like in many cases we don't even have a say in some of what the government's been doing anymore. And yet we've kind of forgotten some of those founding roots. And so I love the fact this story has survived to the extent that it has,

because it's a really great thing for us to go back and look at and remind ourselves of the stock
