0:34.0	One site, for those of you build know me, welcome to the folks who are here,
0:38.4	and to the folks that will see this discussion on Zoom. We're hearing on our podcast,
0:42.3	fully public. I first want to introduce my partner in crime and my co-director of the center,
0:48.7	Mike Murphy. We are on opposite sides spectrum for years, but most of them have been friends for years.
0:55.8	And that represents something of what the Center for the Local Future is all about.
1:01.0	We're going to have a kind of informal conversation and talk with our spring,
1:05.5	2023 CPS fellows for the next 40 to 45 minutes.
1:09.9	And then we'll open this up to those questions
1:12.1	if folks here at it.
1:13.7	First, let me imagine two of our spring fellows that shouldn't be here today.
1:17.4	Michael Bishop was a Republican member of Congress.
1:20.1	I was the founder of president of American General Counsel PLC.
1:24.2	His study group will focus on the 21st century transformation of politics, and we still
1:29.2	bridge divides.
1:30.4	Martha Escudieti is a retired state senator and currently serves as Vice President for State
1:35.7	Government Relations Special Counsel at USC.
1:38.9	First study group is entitled, a Latina in Politics, Power Moves, and I don't mean salsa dancing.
1:46.6	You will see more of Mike and Martha as the semester moves along.
