This episode was recorded on the 6th of April 2017. I am talking to you now on October 27th, 2018,

and it has recently come to my attention that Nimco Ali has made very transphobic

comments on Twitter alongside other tweets in which she condemns sex work and

sex workers and sex workers.

And I wasn't sure what to do with this episode

because, I mean, Nimko is a very important voice

in a lot of areas, and she has done extraordinary work when it comes to fighting FGM and also in this episode we didn't discuss

Trans issues or sex work at all. I would never allow hateful

opinions like that onto this podcast that would not go on fought. So I'm left with this feeling of what do I do? I would never book a transfer,

someone I knew was a transphobic person. I would never book someone I knew

was anti sex work. I just don't believe in giving those people a platform. But that wasn't the situation when I decided to do an

episode with Nimco Ali. I didn't really even know that she was a Tory she told me that afterwards and I

had mixed feelings about the whole thing but again I didn't feel like she'd said

anything problematic on the podcast and as I said she is an important voice in a lot of ways.

So I've settled with this solution to the problem.

I will always aim to make sure that the people I talk to on this podcast are not Terves, which means trans exclusionary radical feminists,

or swerves sex worker exclusionary radical feminists, which I believe are both inappropriately named terms, seeing as I don't believe that you can call yourself a feminist and especially not a radical feminist if you are not fighting for the rights of all women and that includes

sex workers and trans women who are definitely women. So if you want to turn off
