Hello and welcome to GavFest Reads for the month of June, with one of my favorite journalists.

Carrie Blakeinger.

Carrie Blakeinger is an investigative reporter.

She is based in Texas.

She covers criminal justice and injustice for the Marshall project.

And she has a bunch of awards and accolades.

I noticed Carrie's work several years ago when she was just doing kickass reporting in

Texas for the Houston Chronicle.

And really covering prisons in this kind of inside, outside way that was really unusual.

And what I didn't realize at the time is that Carrie has herself spent time in prison

in New York State for drug crimes.

And that's mostly the subject, or at least partly the subject of her fabulous new memoir,

which is called Corrections in Inc.
