Summary

Today, a police officer has been cleared of murdering Chris Kaba who he shot in south London.

Martyn Blake, shot Chris Kaba, who was unarmed, during a police vehicle stop in Streatham in September 2022. The officer denied intending to kill the 24-year-old. Adam speaks to UK Correspondent Adina Campbell who has been following the case, and Danny Shaw, Former BBC Home Affairs Correspondent & now commentator on police and crime issues.

0:45.2	But first of all, mid afternoon on Monday a 40 year old metropolitan police officer called Martin Blake was found not guilty of murdering Chris Caba.
0:57.2	Now Chris Caba was killed in September 2022 he was a black man who lived in South London. He was about to become a dad.
1:06.0	He was driving an Audi car that had been linked to a shooting in Brixton, another area of
1:12.4	South London the night before.
1:14.4	He was stopped by armed police officers and Martin Blake then fatally shot him.
1:20.8	This trial had been going on for the last couple of weeks and jurors heard that during the
1:26.1	incident Chris Caba had been driving his car backwards and forwards, the alleged trying to
1:31.8	ram his way free from the police stop.
1:35.0	And Martin Blake's defense was that he felt that his colleagues' lives were in danger
1:41.0	and that he did not intend to kill Chris Caba.
