Hey everybody we're here for a bald movie but this is uh it's a first room but it's on Netflix we're doing some Netflix

originals this year because some of them get a lot of buzz this one that I had heard a lot of buzz for a lot of excitements generated for is Polar starring Mads Mikkelson

This is about a assassin who works for a company called Damocles and their corporate policy is to retire at the age of 50.

But little does our... all their assassins retire at the age of 50.

But little does our hero know that the retirement policy

is lethal because the mean assassin manager

is unwilling to pay his employees in retirement contracts.

Or, yeah, retirement policy.

So if you earn $8 million in your 401k for a contract killer, then he offs you, keeps that money.

And that is the setup of the movie and hilarity ensues from there. What did you think of this of this movie, Jim?

I think I I went into it wanting to like it.

Because I've seen a couple of stinkinker in the last week that I really didn't like and I was looking for a movie to like.

Unfortunately, I don't think I ever settled into the style of this film.

It goes for a very specific feel.

It's like a combination of crank and this John like Was on a movie that probably nobody has seen called Spun about a meth dealer where he's just it's just crazy like there's a manic energy to parts of this movie that I really wanted it to lean into maybe a little bit more than it did like a crank does

But it kind of tries to split the difference be be manic and crazy and weird in half of it and

Be a little more

Subdued and a little more introspective in another half and those two halves just never quite came together for me.

Yeah, I mean it suffers. I think it's I feel the same way that I the first 30 minutes of this so or this movie it was a lot of fun in that kind of cranked John Wick

ultraviolet but you don't really care because this is a ludicrous scenario and everyone involved is kind of bad.

And then at the halfway point, it devolves into something that I've got a big bugaboo with,

which was essentially torture porn.
