I am a member of the European Ammonesty Action Coordination Group. I've been here for a year.

And I mostly take care of Eastern Europe issues and LGBTI rights in our coordination group.

Yeah, as you said, Eastern Europe, that's why we're talking to you.

Eastern Europe has seen a drawback in democracy and human rights in the past years.

And two prime examples would be Hungary and Poland. Hungary and Orban's rulings have been the

centre of our previous podcast already. So today we will

focus on human rights violations in Poland. Dagny, coming from Poland and being really active

in the country, would you mind telling us something about human rights situation in Poland in the

past year? Sure. So I think there is a lot to talk about and I could probably talk about it for

hours also because I have a lot of opinions on what is happening. But I will give you a brief

overview of the things that I think were the most important events of the past year.

You also mentioned Hungary before, and the sad fact is that I think that Poland is following Hungary's footsteps on the rollback of human rights.

And I think that a lot of the things that we've seen with Hungary we are seeing now

developed in Poland as well. So I think on one hand it's good because we know what we can expect on the other hand is really, really terrifying.
