Learn Persian with Chaiin Conversation, Rumi's beautiful poem, Divan Isho.

We've learned half of the poem already. This is quite an accomplishment.

Today we're going over the next two lines of the poem.

So let's listen to what we've learned so far and our two new lines as read by Fadij Safi Nuddi.

Hi, Latakon, ah shehah, diwanisho, divanish, And in the A-tash-dara

Pervaneh-o-p-er-wahn-shou

Ham-chish-ra-one-h

Come,

Ham-chane-rā-rown-rowne

Wann, Gah, bha-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h-h.

Okay, so those last two lines are the ones we're going to focus on. Let's listen to them one more time.

Now that first line is the first time we've broken with a pattern of having a line of poetry end with a command.

Let's go over what commands we've had so far.

I'm going to say them and I want you to repeat them after me.

Divanisho.

Parvaneisho.

Hamchanisho.

The second line of this poem ends with a command.

So let's learn that before we do anything else.

The command is Paymonisho. So this follows the same structure

as some of the other commands we've learned. Shoh, as we know, means become. And it's addressing

second person singular. So you become. And what is pei monnet? It means a chalice or a container for wine. Pay mona.
