Summary

What is it like to portray the lead character in the story of the entire universe? Today on the BreakPoint Podcast, Shane Morris welcomes Jonathan Roumie, who plays Jesus on the extremely well-done and enormously successful video series, "The Chosen." Roumie discusses the series's approach to the Gospels, to plausible "back stories" of the disciples, and how they wanted to focus on Christ's humanity--without underplaying the fact that He is the Son of God.

Welcome to the Breakpoint podcast. I'm Shane Morris. And if you've ever started a project facing

0:06.5

high expectations, you know how unsettling it can be. I think the worst for me has probably been

0:12.1

parenting my three kids. No matter how well you do, you always feel like you've somehow messed up

0:18.2

or fallen short. But then there are the jobs where the expectations

0:21.2

are just sky high, where the standards are, if anything, humanly impossible to meet. My guest

Chicago Med, also plays the role of Jesus in the recent Vid Angel series The Chosen,

directed by Dallas Jenkins. If you're a Breakpoint listener, you've heard us talking about this

series lately after the first season was released for free via app this year. Aside from being

0:50.0

the biggest crowdfunded media project in history, the series has distinguished itself as a uniquely

human down-to-earth take on the lives of the disciples, but especially on Christ himself.

1:01.1

And so much of that is due, I think, to the talent of this one man.

Welcome him now to the Breakpoint podcast.

Jonathan Rumi, thanks for joining me.

Now, I didn't ask before we started.

Rumi is how you pronounce your last name, right?

1:15.2

Yeah, Rumi is exactly right.

1:16.7

Okay, wonderful.

1:17.3

Thank you.

Terrific.
