Summary

In this episode, John interviews Rachelle Moss, Senior AEA Agronomist, about using sap analysis in conjunction with AEA products and consulting. Rachelle explains how the team manages the influx of sap reports–sometimes dozens in a single day–and how she uses them to make agronomic recommendations, which involve foliar applications, fertigation, and other nutrient management strategies. They also discuss tools for tracking and updating sap data, and how that enables efficient collaboration and rapid assessments of nutrient trends across multiple fields.

Hi friends, this is John. Welcome to the regenerative agriculture podcast.

We're here today with another one of our short episodes and I wanted to follow up the conversation we had a couple of weeks ago with Ethan Darling

0:09.0

to talk about the next stage of the SAP analysis process and what it looks like inside AEA.

So I'm here today with Rochelle Moss, who is going to give us some insights into the process that

0:22.6

she uses and the process that our team uses to evaluate SAP analysis reports that come back,

0:29.7

particularly when you're getting dozens of them in a single day, and how we make recommendations

0:35.8

from that and how that fits into the overall farm system plan and the overall agronomic system.

0:41.5

So, Rochelle, thank you for being here today.

0:43.4

Thank you for being willing to share all of your experiences.

0:47.2

When you get, as we often have growers who are collecting samples,

0:54.0

this is obviously a process that happens every

0:55.8

couple of weeks, but it's very common to get this onslaught of where you're waiting for

1:02.3

sap analysis results to come in, and then one day you'll get 50 or 100 of them all at one

1:07.6

shot, or maybe more. How do you manage that? What does that process look like

1:12.9

for you? Yes, it's definitely like a surprise Christmas. It's sometimes not on the same day, as you know.

1:20.7

So many gifts can come in very sporadically and usually all at once. So typically what that looks like is you get,

1:29.7

you know, an abundance of these and they get put into graphs and sent out to the growers.

1:37.5

We have account managers that are managing that process very well for us. And I know we're

1:42.6

working on some automation to get that

1:45.1

sent out to our growers but that's typically the first step and what's being

1:49.1

sent out is a lot of times growers are getting a calendar invite my me

1:56.8

personally I send out calendar invites as soon as I get sap analysis in, so my growers can check a time in my calendar and their calendar.
