As you know, a few days ago in Berkeley, California,

a memorial celebration was held to honor the life and work of Sasha Shulgin.

A few days before the memorial was to take place,

I got a call from my longtime friend in New York, Wild Bill Radizinski, and he was calling to ask if I was going to be there.

When I told him that I wasn't going to make it, he said, well, he was still thinking about going, even at this late hour.

And the reason he found the upcoming event so compelling, as he said, is this is going to be

the last great gathering of all the old heads from the 60s until now. The old guards fading. There's

never going to be another one like this. Never again. And you know, he was absolutely right about that.

So he got me thinking about what it would be like to be there in the middle of, well, close to a thousand psychedelic heads,

all of whom already knew and loved Sasha.

Actually, it just blows me away just to think about it.

But I wasn't going to be able to make it myself, and so I did the next

best thing. I convinced my good friend, Bruce Damer, who I knew would be going, to just turn on

his recorder whenever he was talking to somebody and ask them what Sasha meant to them. You know,

sort of a man on the street kind of thing. Now, if you've ever been to a large conference,
