At BK Actual, coming at you guys, 12.08 pm here on a Saturday and no announcements this week, let's get right into it.

Tons to get to, it's been a busy week, let's start with our international news though, of course, and go to Jerusalem, where at least seven people were shot dead outside of synagogue in East Jerusalem on Friday night.

In a deadliest attack in the city since 2008, this is in the middle of one of the bloodiest months in Israel and the so-called occupied territories for several years.

These killings were in a Jewish area of the city, and this all kind of, you know, it just contributes to the cycle.

Like I always say, this is going to be going on, it's been going on my whole life, it will be going on for the rest of my life.

But last spring is really when this new wave of attacks began on Israelis, many of them covered here.

Of course, those attacks beget more Israeli army raids into Palestinian areas in the West Bank.

And so far since that time last spring, the Israeli campaign has led to the deaths of more than 170 Palestinians in 2022.

And that is the highest annual toll for those deaths in more than a decade and a half.

And what always happens in the wake of this, well, it fuels new waves of Palestinian anger and militancy.

So what happened? Well, this came on the heels of one of those Israeli attacks, right?

So what happened on like Thursday was one of those raids by the Israelis in a West Bank city.

And that was the city of Jenin and those raids killed at least nine Palestinians according to the Palestinian health ministry.

That prompted the Palestinian authority to suspend security coordination with Israel.

So apparently they did this military raid and then a gun battle between the Israeli troops and armed Palestinians broke out.

The Israeli military said they responded with live rounds after coming under fire during the raid.

The raid was aimed at apprehending members of the Islamic Jihad group who were involved in planning and executing multiple attacks on Israeli soldiers and civilians.

So just in 2023, the deaths in that raid, the nine, brought to 30 the number of Palestinians killed in the West Bank, including five people under the age of 18.

Again, that is a particularly high toll for under one month.
