0:38.4	passed away peacefully this morning with his wife laying next to him. Now obviously we will all remember
0:44.3	that he's an eight-time champion as an executive in the NBA, one-time
0:47.9	champion as a player. 1960 gold medal winner. He is a two-time all-American at West Virginia, but what people
0:56.5	will remember most is that he was a guy who inspired everybody seemingly in the NBA.
1:02.1	Michael Jordan has put out a quote,
1:04.9	commemorating and honoring Jerry West.
1:06.9	I am so deeply saddened at the news of Jerry's passing.
1:09.7	He was truly a friend and mentor,
1:12.0	like an older brother to me. I valued his friendship and
1:14.3	knowledge. I always wished I could have played against him as a competitor but the more I
1:17.9	came to know him I wish I'd been his teammate. I admired his basketball insights and
1:22.2	he and I shared many similarities to how we
1:24.7	approach the game. He will be forever missed my condolences to his wife Karen
1:29.3	and his son's rest-in-peace logo. One of his sons Johnny West, one to school West Virginia
1:34.1	whenever I was there. He was also alongside Joe Missoula, I do believe I assume Joe
1:37.8	Missoula in the West family pretty close if I had to guess. But this is
1:41.4	somebody that obviously the entire sports world is morning.
