Let's talk about your column today, Alice, because it is extraordinary, and slightly shifted

tone here.

But you've written really personally about your experience when your mother is in a care

home, and you couldn't go and see her, and you were invited by all the rules.

And your story, and I know it's a story to replicate it again and again and again.

That's why people are so close.

So that's my problem.

I keep wanting to move on to Ukraine and the cost of living crisis.

But actually, all I can keep thinking of is, why on earth did I let my mother stay in
